Sky Care is an Advanced Life Support (ALS)
air medical transport service designed to work with area
hospitals, EMS agencies, Fire services, and other Public
Safety Agencies throughout Upstate South Carolina, Northeast
Georgia and Western North Carolina. Sky Care's dedicated
flight team is comprised of a 3-person crew (Pilot, Flight
Paramedic and Flight Nurse).
Sky Care personnel are required to complete
an 83 hour didactic educational program before completing
their probationary period. The content of this program
encompasses 16 section's including key elements of air medical
transport. Some of the these key elements include: Flight
Procedures, Avionics, Helicopter Safety, Scene Management,
Flight Physiology, Policies, Protocols, Treatment,
Documentation, Procedural Training, Monitoring, Assessment and
Quality Assurance / Improvement. In addition, and before
being considered for a position with Sky Care, Personnel must
meet the following minimum qualifications:
Flight Crew Requirements:
Pilot:
Commercial Instrument Rating
Minimum 2500 flight hours
Minimum 100 hours unaided night flight
time
Completion of Astar factory flight
school
Flight Paramedic:
Minimum 5 years experience in a high
volume, Emergency EMS system
Current Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
certification
Current Pediatric (PALS and/or PEPP) certification
Current Trauma (BTLS and/or PHTLS) certification
Instructor certifications and teaching experience
preferred
Flight Nurse:
Minimum 5 years experience in an
Emergency Room or Critical Care setting
Current Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
certification
Current Pediatric (PALS, PEPP, and/or ENPC)
certification
Current Trauma (BTLS, PHTLS and/or TNCC) certification
Instructor certifications and teaching experience
preferred

definitive air medical support to critically ill or injured
patients during transport to the most appropriate medical
facility.

skills of our professional flight crews working in cooperation
with your agency when distance, location, or road conditions
could delay transport or endanger the patients condition.

and flawless care.
History
Medshore Ambulance Service's Chief
Executive Officer, Greg Shore, saw an identified need for air
medical transport in Upstate South Carolina, Northeast
Georgia, and Western North Carolina. Sky Care has been
developed and began operations in 2003 based in Anderson,
South Carolina.
It is Sky Care's objective to enhance
availability of air transport services in the Upstate by
developing partnerships and working in cooperation with other
providers in the region to enhance and provide the most
beneficial service. We feel the communities we serve will
receive the most direct benefit with this objective in mind.
